AIR 301 • UPSC CSE 2022 • Optional: Electrical Engineering
I come from a humble background in Jharkhand, and my early years were marked by a heart-crushing breakup during my 10th standard. Despite this setback, I managed to clear the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) entrance exam and pursued my B.Tech. in Engineering. However, I soon realized that a high-paying job wasn't everything, and I decided to pursue my passion for public service.
My journey to becoming an IAS officer began with a clear study plan. I started by identifying my weak areas and creating a schedule that allowed me to focus on those subjects. I also made sure to allocate time for revision and practice. My optional subject was Electrical Engineering, and I spent a significant amount of time studying it. I also joined a coaching institute to get guidance from experienced teachers.
One of the biggest challenges I faced was managing my time effectively. With a busy schedule, it was easy to get distracted and fall behind. I also struggled with self-doubt and anxiety, especially during the interview phase. However, I learned to overcome these challenges by staying focused and motivated.
To overcome the challenges I faced, I employed several strategies. I made sure to take regular breaks and engage in physical activity to stay healthy. I also sought guidance from experienced teachers and mentors who helped me stay on track. Additionally, I practiced mindfulness and meditation to manage my stress levels.
The interview experience was both exhilarating and intimidating. I was nervous but confident, and I made sure to stay calm and composed throughout the process. I was asked a range of questions, from my background and interests to my views on current affairs. I was also asked to discuss my optional subject, Electrical Engineering.
Securing 48th rank in the UPSC Civil Services Examination was a dream come true. It was a testament to my hard work and dedication, and I was proud of myself for overcoming the challenges I faced. I realized that success is not just about achieving a goal but also about the journey you take to get there.
