Arya VM Preparation Strategy & Insights

Background

I come from a family of educators. My parents and grandparents have all been teachers. I grew up surrounded by books and learning. I was always fascinated by history and politics, and I knew from a young age that I wanted to be a part of the civil services.

Study Plan

I started preparing for the UPSC exam after completing my postgraduate degree in English Literature. I had two years of teaching experience, which gave me a good understanding of the subjects I needed to study for. I created a study plan that included a mix of theory and practice. I spent most of my time studying for the written exam, but I also made sure to practice my interview skills.

Challenges

The biggest challenge I faced was balancing my studies with my teaching job. I had to work long hours and still find time to study. I also had to deal with self-doubt and motivation issues. There were times when I felt like giving up, but I kept pushing myself.

Strategies

  • Focus on understanding concepts: I made sure to understand the concepts behind the subjects I was studying. I didn't just memorize facts and figures, but I also tried to understand the context and relevance of the information.
  • Practice consistently: I practiced consistently, even when I didn't feel like it. I made sure to set aside dedicated time for studying and reviewing.
  • Seek help when needed: I sought help from my teachers, mentors, and friends when I needed it. I didn't be afraid to ask for help or clarification on topics I didn't understand.
  • Stay motivated: I stayed motivated by setting small goals and rewards for myself. I also reminded myself why I was studying for the exam in the first place.

Interview Experience

The interview experience was nerve-wracking, but also exhilarating. I was asked a range of questions, from my views on current events to my experiences as a teacher. I tried to stay calm and composed, and I made sure to answer the questions to the best of my ability.

Success

Securing Rank 36 in the UPSC CSE 2022 was a dream come true for me. I was overjoyed and relieved when I received the news. I knew that all my hard work and determination had paid off.

Conclusion

My journey to becoming a UPSC IAS topper was not easy, but it was worth it. I learned so much about myself and about the importance of hard work and determination. I hope that my story can inspire others to pursue their dreams and never give up on their goals.
