AIR 184 • UPSC CSE 2022 • Optional: PSIR
I come from a family of medical professionals, and my parents always encouraged me to pursue a career in medicine. However, I was fascinated by the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and wanted to make a difference in society. After completing my MBBS in May 2022, I got a job and tried to balance work with UPSC preparation.
My study plan was quite rigorous, and I dedicated 12 hours a day to studying. I followed a strict schedule, with a focus on current affairs, geography, and history. I also made sure to revise my notes regularly and practice previous year's papers.
Balancing work and studies was a significant challenge for me. I had to wake up early in the morning to study and then attend to my job responsibilities. Additionally, I faced difficulties in understanding certain concepts, which required me to seek help from my friends and mentors.
To overcome the challenges, I employed several strategies. Time management was key, and I made sure to prioritize my tasks accordingly. I also created a study group with my friends, which helped me stay motivated and focused. Moreover, I practiced mindfulness and took regular breaks to maintain my mental health.
The interview experience was quite challenging for me. I was asked a range of questions, from current affairs to my hobbies. However, I was well-prepared and confident, which helped me to stay calm and composed. I also made sure to listen carefully to the questions and respond thoughtfully.
My success in the UPSC CSE 2022 exam was a result of my hard work and determination. I was thrilled to achieve the rank of 184 and realize my dream of becoming an IAS officer. My journey was not without its challenges, but I learned valuable lessons along the way. I hope to inspire others to pursue their dreams, just as I did.
