Sparsh Yadav's Preparation Strategy

AIR 51 • UPSC CSE 2022 • Optional: Mathematics

Sparsh Yadav Preparation Strategy & Insights

Background

I come from a humble background in Delhi, and my family has always been supportive of my dreams. I was fascinated by the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and wanted to become a part of it. I knew it wouldn't be easy, but I was determined to work hard and achieve my goal.

Study Plan

My study plan was quite rigorous. I started preparing for the UPSC exam about 2 years before the actual exam. I would study for around 10-12 hours a day, 6 days a week. I would cover all the subjects, including general studies, history, geography, and optional subjects like mathematics.

I would also take mock tests and practice previous year's question papers to get an idea of the exam pattern and difficulty level. I would analyze my performance and identify areas where I needed to improve.

Challenges

The biggest challenge I faced was time management. With such a rigorous study plan, it was difficult to balance my studies with other activities. I had to sacrifice a lot of my social life and hobbies to focus on my studies.

Another challenge I faced was dealing with self-doubt and anxiety. There were times when I felt like giving up, but I knew that I had to push through and keep working towards my goal.

Strategies

One of the key strategies that helped me was making a study schedule and sticking to it. I would allocate specific time slots for each subject and make sure I covered all the topics.

I also made sure to take breaks and practice self-care. I would go for walks, exercise, and meditate to keep my mind and body refreshed.

Another strategy that worked for me was joining a coaching institute. I joined Forum IAS, which provided me with a structured study plan, mock tests, and guidance from experienced faculty.

Interview Experience

The interview experience was nerve-wracking, but I was well-prepared. I had practiced answering common interview questions and had also prepared some questions to ask the panel.

The panel consisted of 3 members, and they asked me a range of questions, from general knowledge to current affairs. I was able to answer most of the questions confidently and provided some insightful answers.

Success

I was overjoyed when I received the news that I had secured Rank 51 in the UPSC CSE 2022. It was a moment of pure elation and relief.

Looking back, I realize that my success was not just due to my hard work and dedication, but also due to the support of my family, friends, and mentors. I am grateful for the opportunities I had and the experiences I gained during my journey.

Key Takeaways:

  • Make a study schedule and stick to it.
  • Take breaks and practice self-care.
  • Join a coaching institute for guidance and support.
  • Practice answering common interview questions.
  • Stay focused and motivated throughout the journey.
