AIR 3 • UPSC CSE 2022 • Optional: Anthropology
I come from a small town in Telangana, and my family has always been supportive of my education. I graduated with a B Tech in civil engineering from IIT Hyderabad in 2017. After working for a few years, I decided to pursue my dream of becoming an IAS officer. I started preparing for the UPSC exam in 2018, and it was a long and challenging journey.
My study plan was quite rigid, and I followed a structured approach. I divided my time into three phases: Prelims, Mains, and Interview. I started with the basics, covering the entire syllabus, and then moved on to solving previous year question papers. I also joined a coaching institute, which provided me with valuable guidance and support. My daily routine was quite disciplined, with a focus on reading, writing, and practicing consistently.
The biggest challenge I faced was balancing my work and study life. I had to juggle my job and preparation simultaneously, which was exhausting. I also faced self-doubt and uncertainty at times, but I never gave up. I kept reminding myself of my goals and the reasons why I wanted to become an IAS officer.
My strategy was to focus on understanding the UPSC syllabus and solving previous year question papers. I also made sure to practice consistently, without taking any breaks. I used to read for 4-5 hours a day, and then take a break before resuming my studies. I also joined a study group, which helped me stay motivated and focused.
The interview was a challenging experience, but I was well-prepared. I had practiced answering behavioral questions, and I was confident in my responses. The panel asked me a mix of questions, ranging from current affairs to personal experiences. I tried to be honest and authentic in my responses, and I think that helped me build a rapport with the panel.
Securing the 3rd rank in the CSE 2022 exam was a dream come true for me. It was a culmination of all my hard work and dedication. I am grateful to my family, friends, and mentors who supported me throughout my journey. I am also thankful to the UPSC for providing me with this opportunity to serve the nation.
