Preparation Strategy

Background\n\nI come from a middle-class family in Punjab. My parents always encouraged me to pursue my dreams, and I was fascinated by the idea of becoming a civil servant. I completed my graduation from Shri Ram College of Commerce in June 2023.\n\n### Study Plan\n\nMy study plan was quite disciplined. I used to wake up at 5 am every day and start my studies. I followed a strict schedule, allocating specific time slots for each subject. I also used to read newspapers and current affairs to stay updated with the latest happenings.\n\n- I used to study for 8 hours a day, 6 days a week.

  • I used to take breaks in between to refresh my mind.
  • I used to revise my notes regularly to ensure that I didn't forget anything. \n\n### Challenges\n\nThe biggest challenge I faced was time management. With so many subjects to study, it was difficult to allocate time for each one. I also had to deal with self-doubt and anxiety, which were major obstacles in my journey.\n\n### Strategies\n\nTo overcome these challenges, I employed several strategies.\n\n- I used to make a to-do list every day to stay organized.
  • I used to prioritize my tasks based on importance and deadlines.
  • I used to take help from my friends and family when I needed it.
  • I used to reward myself for achieving small milestones. \n\n### Interview Experience\n\nThe interview experience was nerve-wracking, but I was well-prepared. I had practiced answering common UPSC interview questions and had also studied the current affairs.\n\n- I used to practice answering questions in front of a mirror to improve my body language.
  • I used to record myself answering questions to identify areas of improvement.
  • I used to read books and articles to stay updated with the latest happenings. \n\n### Success\n\nMy hard work and dedication paid off when I secured AIR 61 in my first attempt. It was a surreal moment, and I was overwhelmed with emotions. I realized that with the right mindset and strategy, anything is possible.\n\nThe key to my success was my ability to stay focused and motivated. I didn't let self-doubt and anxiety get the better of me. I kept pushing myself to work harder and strive for excellence.\n\nAnother important factor was my ability to adapt to new situations. I was able to adjust my study plan and strategies as needed, which helped me stay on track.\n\nLastly, I believe that having a support system is crucial. My friends and family were always there to encourage me and provide help when I needed it.
