AIR 817 • UPSC CSE 2023 • Optional: Anthropology
I was born in 1996 in Hyderabad, and my journey to becoming a UPSC topper was not an easy one. I faced numerous setbacks in various competitive exams, but I never gave up on my dreams. I completed my B. Tech and utilized the time to thoroughly complete NCERTs and my Civil Services preparation materials.
My study plan was quite rigorous, with a focus on completing NCERTs and other study materials. I also joined various test series and coaching classes to get a better understanding of the exam pattern and to improve my time management skills. I made sure to allocate sufficient time for revision and practice, and I also took regular breaks to avoid burnout.
One of the biggest challenges I faced was dealing with self-doubt and negative thoughts. There were times when I felt like giving up, but I reminded myself of my goals and the reasons why I wanted to become an IFS officer. I also had to deal with the pressure of performing well in the exam, which can be overwhelming at times.
To overcome these challenges, I employed several strategies. Firstly, I focused on building my mental toughness and resilience. I practiced meditation and yoga to improve my mental well-being and to reduce stress. Secondly, I made sure to stay motivated by setting small goals and rewarding myself for achieving them. Thirdly, I sought support from my friends and family, who encouraged me to keep going even when things seemed tough.
The interview experience was both exciting and intimidating. I was nervous but prepared, and I made sure to answer all the questions confidently and honestly. I was asked about my optional subject, Anthropology, and I was able to showcase my knowledge and understanding of the subject.
My success in the UPSC exam was a result of my hard work and determination. I am proud of myself for overcoming the challenges I faced and for achieving my goal. I hope that my story can inspire others to pursue their dreams, no matter how impossible they may seem.
