Ketan Shukla's Preparation Strategy

Background

I still remember the day I decided to take the UPSC exam. It was a mix of excitement and nervousness. I had always been fascinated by the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and the impact it has on people's lives. I was determined to make a difference and serve the nation.

Study Plan

My study plan was quite rigorous. I started preparing for the exam about 2 years in advance. I created a schedule that included a mix of theory and practice. I would study for 8 hours a day, 6 days a week. My study material included NCERT books, standard textbooks, and online resources. I also joined a coaching institute to get guidance and support.

Challenges

The biggest challenge I faced was time management. With a tight study schedule, it was difficult to balance my personal life. I had to sacrifice my social life and hobbies to focus on my studies. Another challenge was the pressure to perform well. I had to deal with self-doubt and anxiety, which affected my motivation and confidence.

Strategies

To overcome these challenges, I developed some strategies that worked for me. One of the key strategies was to create a study group. I joined a group of like-minded individuals who were also preparing for the exam. We would study together, discuss our doubts, and motivate each other. This helped me stay focused and motivated.

Another strategy was to break down my study material into smaller chunks. I created a list of topics and subtopics and focused on one topic at a time. This helped me understand the material better and retain it for longer.

I also practiced a lot of questions. I would solve previous year's papers, mock tests, and online quizzes. This helped me identify my strengths and weaknesses and improve my time management skills.

Interview Experience

The interview experience was a mix of emotions. I was nervous but excited at the same time. The panel asked me a range of questions, from current affairs to ethics. I tried to answer confidently and clearly, using examples and anecdotes to illustrate my points.

Success

Securing Rank 156 in UPSC 2023 was a dream come true. It was a result of hard work, dedication, and perseverance. I learned a lot from my experiences and would like to share some key takeaways with you.
