Background

I come from a humble background, and my interest in Geography was sparked by my geography teacher in school. I was fascinated by the way she could explain complex concepts in a simple manner. This sparked my passion for the subject, and I decided to pursue it further.

Study Plan

My study plan was quite rigorous, with a focus on Geography and the other optional subjects. I created a detailed schedule, allocating specific time slots for each subject. I also made sure to include regular breaks to avoid burnout. My plan was to complete the syllabus by the end of the first six months and then focus on revision and practice.

Challenges

The biggest challenge I faced was balancing my studies with other responsibilities. I had to work part-time to support my family, which left me with limited time for studies. I also had to deal with self-doubt and anxiety, which threatened to derail my progress. However, I persevered and stayed focused on my goals.

Strategies

To overcome the challenges, I developed several strategies. I created a study group with like-minded individuals, which provided me with a sense of community and motivation. I also made sure to take care of my physical and mental health, which helped me stay energized and focused. I also practiced time management techniques, such as the Pomodoro Technique, to stay productive.

Interview Experience

The interview experience was a rollercoaster ride of emotions. I was nervous and anxious, but I tried to stay calm and composed. I answered the questions to the best of my ability, drawing from my knowledge and experience. I was surprised by the variety of questions, which ranged from Geography to current events.

Success

Securing 24th rank in the UPSC CSE exam was a dream come true. It was the result of months of hard work, dedication, and perseverance. I was overjoyed and relieved, knowing that all my efforts had paid off. I realized that success is not just about achieving a goal, but also about the journey and the lessons learned along the way.
