Background

I come from a family of modest means, and my parents always encouraged me to pursue my dreams. I was fascinated by the concept of public service and wanted to make a difference in the lives of people. I decided to take the UPSC CSE exam, but I knew it wouldn't be easy.

Study Plan

I started preparing for the exam about 1.5 years in advance. I created a detailed study plan, which included a mix of theory and practice. I focused on my weak areas, such as history and geography, and made sure to cover all the topics thoroughly. I also joined a coaching institute to get guidance and support.

Challenges

The biggest challenge I faced was time management. With a full-time job and a family to take care of, it was difficult to balance my studies with other responsibilities. I had to be very disciplined and prioritize my tasks to ensure that I stayed on track.

Strategies

To overcome the challenges, I developed a few strategies that helped me stay focused. First, I created a schedule and stuck to it. I allocated specific time slots for studying, and I made sure to take breaks in between to avoid burnout. Second, I joined a study group, which provided me with motivation and support. We would meet regularly to discuss our progress and share notes.

Interview Experience

The interview experience was nerve-wracking, but it was also an opportunity to showcase my skills and knowledge. I was asked a range of questions, from general knowledge to specific topics related to my optional subject. I made sure to answer confidently and clearly, and I was prepared to think on my feet.

Success

Securing 497th rank in the UPSC CSE exam was a dream come true. It was a result of my hard work and perseverance, and I was proud of myself for achieving my goal. I realized that with determination and the right strategies, anything is possible.
