Vikas Yadav Preparation Strategy & Insights

Background

I come from a family of bureaucrats and was always drawn to the idea of serving the nation. I completed my engineering from IIT Kanpur and worked as an Oracle consultant before deciding to take the UPSC exam. I had a clear goal in mind - to become an IAS officer and make a difference in the lives of people.

Study Plan

My study plan was quite rigorous. I started preparing for the UPSC exam about a year before the actual exam. I focused on clearing my basics in subjects like history, geography, and economics. I also made sure to practice a lot of previous year papers and mock tests. I used a combination of online and offline resources, including coaching classes and self-study materials.

Challenges

One of the biggest challenges I faced was time management. With a job and a family to take care of, it was difficult to balance my studies with my other responsibilities. I also had to deal with self-doubt and frustration at times, but I never gave up. I kept reminding myself of my goal and the reasons why I wanted to become an IAS officer.

Strategies

  • Make a study plan: Create a schedule that works for you and stick to it.
  • Clear your basics: Make sure you have a strong understanding of the subjects you're studying.
  • Practice, practice, practice: The more you practice, the better you'll become.
  • Stay motivated: Remind yourself of your goal and the reasons why you're studying.
  • Take breaks: It's essential to take breaks and recharge your batteries.

Interview Experience

My interview experience was quite nerve-wracking, but I was well-prepared. I had practiced answering a lot of common interview questions and had also prepared myself for any unexpected questions. I was asked a lot of questions about my background, my interests, and my motivations. I was also asked to speak about my vision for the country and how I planned to implement it.

Success

I was overjoyed when I received the news that I had cleared the UPSC exam. It was a moment of pure elation and relief. I had worked hard for this moment, and it felt amazing to know that all my efforts had paid off. I'm proud to be serving the nation as a Deputy Collector and I'm committed to making a positive impact in the lives of people.

Conclusion

Preparing for the UPSC exam is a challenging and rewarding experience. It requires a lot of hard work, dedication, and perseverance. But if you're passionate about serving the nation and making a difference in the lives of people, then it's definitely worth it. I hope my story inspires you to pursue your dreams and work towards a better future.
