Neeti Agrawal Preparation Strategy & Insights

Background

I come from a family of modest means, and my parents always encouraged me to pursue my passions. I was initially interested in physiotherapy, but during my internship, I realized that it wasn't for me. I took a leap of faith and decided to pursue a career in civil services.

Study Plan

My study plan was quite unconventional. I started preparing for the UPSC exam in 2019, but I didn't have a clear plan. I would study for a few months, take a break, and then come back to it. I realized that this approach wasn't working for me, so I decided to create a more structured plan. I set specific goals for each subject and allocated a certain amount of time for each one.

  • I started with a strong foundation in General Studies, focusing on current events and history.
  • I also made sure to allocate time for optional subjects, which I found to be a game-changer in my preparation.
  • I used a combination of online resources, study groups, and self-study to prepare for the exam.

Challenges

One of the biggest challenges I faced was time management. I had to balance my studies with other responsibilities, such as work and family obligations. I had to learn to prioritize my tasks and make the most of my time.

  • I also faced challenges in understanding certain concepts, particularly in the optional subjects.
  • I had to persevere and not give up, even when things seemed impossible.

Strategies

To overcome these challenges, I employed several strategies:

  • I created a study schedule and stuck to it, even on weekends and holidays.
  • I joined a study group to stay motivated and learn from others.
  • I used flashcards to help me memorize key concepts and terms.
  • I practiced previous year's papers to get a sense of the exam pattern and difficulty level.

Interview Experience

The interview experience was ** nerve-wracking**, but also an opportunity to showcase my skills and knowledge. I prepared thoroughly for the interview, researching current events and practicing my responses to common questions.

  • I was asked questions on a wide range of topics, from current events to history and culture.
  • I tried to stay calm and composed, and answer each question to the best of my ability.

Success

Securing the 383rd rank in UPSC CSE 2023 was a dream come true. I was overjoyed and relieved that all my hard work had paid off. I realized that perseverance and determination are key to achieving success in any field.

  • I learned to stay focused and motivated, even in the face of challenges.

  • I developed a growth mindset, always looking for ways to improve and learn.

  • I believe that anyone can achieve success with the right mindset and strategies.

  • I encourage others to pursue their passions and never give up on their dreams.
