AIR 276 • UPSC CSE 2022 • Optional: Geography
I've always been fascinated by the world of Geography, and my interest in the subject began during my school days. As I delved deeper into the subject, I realized the vastness of its scope and the numerous career opportunities it offered. My decision to pursue a career in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) was largely influenced by my passion for Geography and my desire to make a positive impact on society.
My study plan was meticulously crafted to ensure that I covered all the essential topics in Geography. I started by creating a detailed timeline, dividing my study material into manageable chunks, and allocating specific time slots for each subject. I also made it a point to revise my notes regularly, ensuring that I retained the information effectively. My study plan was flexible, and I made adjustments as needed to accommodate any changes in my schedule or to address any areas where I needed improvement.
One of the significant challenges I faced during my preparation was balancing my study schedule with other responsibilities. As a working professional, I had to juggle my job with my studies, which was often demanding and stressful. Additionally, I had to contend with self-doubt and fear of failure, which threatened to derail my progress at times. However, I persevered, drawing strength from my support system and my own resilience.
To overcome the challenges I faced, I employed several strategies that helped me stay focused and motivated. I created a study group with like-minded individuals who shared my goals and aspirations. We would meet regularly to discuss our progress, share knowledge, and provide mutual support. I also made it a point to engage in physical activities, such as yoga and meditation, to maintain my physical and mental well-being. Furthermore, I practiced time management techniques, such as the Pomodoro Technique, to optimize my study sessions and minimize distractions.
The UPSC interview was a nerve-wracking experience, but I was well-prepared for it. I had studied extensively on current events, history, and politics, and I was confident in my ability to articulate my thoughts and opinions. The interview panel was composed of experienced professionals who asked me a range of questions, from general knowledge to specific topics related to Geography. I was impressed by their depth of knowledge and their ability to engage in meaningful discussions.
Securing the 276th rank in the 2022 UPSC exam was a significant achievement for me, and it was the culmination of months of hard work and dedication. I was thrilled to receive the news, and it was a testament to my perseverance and resilience. My experience has taught me the importance of staying focused, managing time effectively, and seeking support from others. I hope that my story will inspire others to pursue their dreams and strive for excellence.
