AIR 95 • UPSC CSE 2022 • Optional: Sociology
I've always been fascinated by the world of governance and public administration. Growing up, I was exposed to various social issues and problems that our society faces. This sparked my interest in pursuing a career in civil services.
My journey began with a clear understanding of the exam pattern and syllabus. I created a detailed study plan, which included a mix of theory and practice. I focused on my optional subject, Sociology, and made sure to cover all the topics thoroughly. I also made time for current affairs and general studies.
The biggest challenge I faced was managing my time effectively. With a full-time job and a family to support, I had to be very disciplined in my study routine. I also had to deal with self-doubt and imposter syndrome, but I pushed through it by reminding myself of my goals.
To overcome the challenges, I employed several strategies. I created a habit of reading newspapers and current affairs magazines every day. I also joined a study group to stay motivated and accountable. I made sure to take breaks and engage in physical activities to maintain my mental health.
The interview experience was a mix of emotions - excitement, nervousness, and anxiety. I was well-prepared for the questions, but I still had to think on my feet. I remember one question that really threw me off - it was about the impact of globalization on Indian society. I took a deep breath, gathered my thoughts, and responded confidently.
Securing 95th rank in the UPSC CSE exam was a dream come true. It was a culmination of hard work, dedication, and perseverance. I learned that with the right mindset and strategy, anything is possible. I would encourage all aspirants to stay focused, work hard, and believe in themselves.
