Study Plan

I started preparing for the UPSC exam in early 2021. I had a clear plan in place, which included a combination of self-study and online courses. I focused on my optional subject, Anthropology, and made sure to cover all the topics thoroughly. I also prepared for the General Studies (GS) papers, which are crucial for the exam.

Challenges

One of the biggest challenges I faced was balancing my medical practice with my UPSC preparation. It was tough to manage my time, but I was determined to succeed. I also faced some self-doubt and anxiety, but I learned to overcome them with the help of my mentors and friends.

Strategies

  • Spaced Revision: I followed a spaced revision technique, which helped me retain the information for a longer period.
  • Prelims in 3 Rounds: I attempted the Preliminary Examination in 3 rounds, which helped me improve my performance.
  • PESTEL Technique: I used the PESTEL technique to analyze the current issues and trends in the country.
  • Mock Interviews: I took 8-10 mock interviews to prepare for the Personality Test.

Interview Experience

My interview experience was a mix of emotions. I was nervous, but I was also confident about my preparation. The panel asked me a range of questions, from diplomacy to medical background. I tried to answer them to the best of my abilities and provided examples from my experience.

Success

Securing the 5th rank in the UPSC Civil Services 2022 exam was a dream come true for me. It was a result of my hard work, dedication, and perseverance. I am grateful to my family, friends, and mentors who supported me throughout my journey.
