AIR 172 • UPSC CSE 2023 • Optional: History
I come from a family of modest means, and my parents always encouraged me to pursue my dreams. I grew up in Guwahati, Assam, and was always fascinated by history and politics. I pursued a degree in engineering from NIT Silchar, but soon realized that my true passion lay in civil services.
I started preparing for the UPSC exam after clearing the CCE 2022. I joined a coaching institute in Delhi and followed a rigorous study plan. I focused on my optional subject, history, and also developed a strong foundation in general studies. I spent around 10-12 hours a day studying, and also made sure to take breaks to maintain my physical and mental health.
The biggest challenge I faced during my preparation was balancing my studies with other aspects of life. I had to manage my time effectively, make sure I was eating well, and also finding time for self-study. Additionally, I had to deal with the pressure of performing well in the exam, which can be overwhelming at times.
To overcome these challenges, I developed a few strategies that helped me stay focused and motivated. Firstly, I created a schedule and stuck to it. I also made sure to take breaks and engage in activities that I enjoyed, such as reading and watching movies. Secondly, I surrounded myself with supportive people who encouraged me to pursue my dreams. Finally, I focused on my strengths and weaknesses, and worked on improving my weaknesses.
The interview experience was a turning point for me. I was nervous but confident, and I made sure to be myself during the interview. I was asked a range of questions, from my optional subject to current affairs, and I was able to answer them confidently. The interviewers were friendly and approachable, and they made me feel at ease.
Securing 172nd rank in the UPSC CSE exam 2023 was a dream come true for me. It was the result of hard work, dedication, and perseverance. I am proud of myself for achieving this feat, and I hope to inspire others to pursue their dreams.
**Key points:
Securing a good rank in the UPSC CSE exam is not an easy feat, but it is achievable with hard work and dedication. I hope that my story will inspire others to pursue their dreams and work towards achieving their goals.
