AIR 523 • UPSC CSE 2023 • Optional: Geography
Growing up in a rural background, I never thought I'd be a UPSC topper. My parents were farmers, and we struggled to make ends meet. But they always encouraged me to study and pursue my dreams. I was fascinated by the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and the impact it had on people's lives.
I started preparing for the UPSC exam after completing my graduation. I had a clear study plan, which included reading a lot of books, taking online courses, and practicing previous year's question papers. I also joined a coaching institute, which provided me with a structured approach to my studies.
The biggest challenge I faced was balancing my studies with other responsibilities. I had to work part-time to support my family, which left me with limited time for studying. Additionally, I had to deal with self-doubt and imposter syndrome, which made me question my abilities.
To overcome these challenges, I developed a few strategies. Firstly, I created a schedule and stuck to it. I allocated specific time slots for studying, working, and relaxing. This helped me stay focused and avoid procrastination. Secondly, I joined a study group, which provided me with a sense of community and motivation. We would discuss our studies, share notes, and help each other out.
The interview experience was nerve-wracking, but also exciting. I was asked a mix of questions, ranging from current affairs to personal experiences. I tried to be honest and authentic in my responses, while also showcasing my knowledge and skills. The panel was friendly and approachable, which made me feel more comfortable.
Securing All India Rank 523 was a dream come true. It was a result of hard work, determination, and perseverance. I learned that success is not just about achieving a goal, but also about the journey you take to get there. I'm proud of myself for staying committed to my goals and never giving up.
Key Points:
My journey to becoming a UPSC topper was not easy, but it was worth it. I learned valuable lessons about hard work, determination, and perseverance. I hope my story inspires others to pursue their dreams and never give up on their goals.
